Campaign Committee Member: Sheron Ferguson

Sheron’s work-life started in Editorial of the North Western Evening Mail, then onto BBC Local Radio: working for 8 years with 3 others creating and delivering all radio content for morning, mid-day and tea-time programmes. Sheron loved this job!! It was exciting, exhilarating and energising but no-more than her next job!

Sheron is mum to Andrew and Matthew (now 30 yrs. and 32 yrs.). While their sons were young, Sheron worked with Robert her husband and they ran their own business for 15 years: a Shop-fitting Design Consultancy: learning new skills in sales, marketing and financial management – all things to keep a business healthy and growing.

Sheron’s venture into the ‘Third Sector’ started as Manager of Northumbria Daybreak – an exceptional regional charity supporting adults with learning difficulties. It was here she learned about Project design and delivery, how to successfully negotiate with local authorities and how to become a ‘Preferred Provider’.

She has stayed in the ‘Third Sector’ ever since – using her experience to benefit people with often complex and challenging needs. Working with the IoF and DSC as trainer, fundraising and management consultant offered her valuable insight into regional, national and international charities.

For the last 9 years, Sheron has served as Director of Communications and Marketing at UCB (a national Christian media charity) managing a terrific team to raise £8 million ‘new’ money each year. It’s all about building relationships and inviting people to come on a journey, something which she’s looking forward to in the Flag Lane Baths community project.
